Alfred’s New Orleans Cafe is the place to go for savory New Orleans-style seafood, serving the needs of our customers in a relaxed, cozy atmosphere. As a longtime resident of the Progress Village community, Yvonne Sheppard takes pride in offering the best seafood and gumbo in the area. Joining her in this endeavor is her husband, Alfred Sr. — better known as AL — who provides financial and physical stability and is an invaluable asset to our business.
The concept of Alfred’s New Orleans Café was inspired by Al’s and Yvonne’s son, Alfred, Jr., a gifted jazz musician since his early childhood.
Our recipes come from Al’s mother, a native of New Orleans whose recipes have been handed down through generations. Yvonne uses only fresh ingredients, and each order is freshly made and “made to order.” Every customer is a VIP at Alfred’s New Orleans Café. “Excellence” is our motto!
